Weekly Brief is HomeBizPal's blog based and RSS based news channel which broadcasts on every Sunday. It analyzes related news of the week and publishes only the ones that matter home business owners.


/RSS and Content Syndication News Articles/ - SRI LANKA, December 28, 2006 - HomeBizPal.com has launched a weekly news channel that highlights important news of past week related to home businesses. Its main sources are business blogs. But also highlights some inspiring blogs. Usually blogs publishes a daily, weekly or monthly post highlighting important posts of other blogs for providing additional information to their visitors and to get attention from blog owners.

The editor Gayanath Jayarathne said, "Yes, those two objectives are included. But our main purpose is to publish a well filtered news feed rather than trying to pitch other bloggers. It doesn't matter whether the source is a blog or a static site. Only concern is its effect to an average home business owner."

HomeBizPal also transferred its blog into category based URLs from date based URLs which is a popular format in news blogs.

"It was a well thought decision. HomeBizPal's main concern is to provide informative articles on starting and maintaining home businesses rather than what happened in business world. Therefore most of our articles are all-time articles that led us to use category based URLs which are more meaningful and browsable than time based ones."

"Actually we didn't want our visitors to overwhelm with all news out there. And also there are pretty number of good blogs that provide business news promptly. However we still wanted to provide news which really affects home businesses."

According to Gayanath the channel usually contains around 10 items but they don't want to impose a limit. Whatever passes its filter will be published.

"Actually our filter is simple. We just ask what this has to do with a home business? No matter how big or small the source is. For an example we didn't publish shutting down Google Answers as a news item which was a big hit. But we would mention it in an article on quality assurance or decision making. Prohibiting images around AdSesnse is different. It directly affects any home business owner who relies on AdSense."

The channel broadcasts on every Sunday. You can get it by reading its blog or by subscribing to its RSS Feed. Archives are available in a category called Weekly Brief. Gayanath added that this will also be available as a weekly email newsletter together with highlights of its own blog.
